In the last few months, video game companies have been buying game development studios one by one. First Microsoft – Bethesda, then EA – Codemasters, and now Embracer Group – The Gearbox Entertainment Company.
Embracer Group, a Swedish-based gaming holding company that carried out a major “growth” operation in November, attracted attention by announcing that it purchased 12 game studios and 1 PR company in one day. Embracer Group made another remarkable announcement. They bought the US game studio Gearbox.
According to the information shared, Embracer Group paid to purchase the Gearbox is exactly 1.3 billion dollars.
It is not yet known why the Embracer group preferred and bought the Gearbox, but there seems to be a collaboration that will benefit the Gear Box.
Embracer Group currently holds over 200 game brands. These brands include popular productions such as Saints Row, Goat Simulator, Dead Island, Darksiders, Metro, MX vs ATV, Kingdoms of Amalur, TimeSplitters, Satisfactory, Wreckfest, Insurgency, and World War Z.
We know that companies such as Microsoft, Sony, EA, Amazon, and Google are also looking to buy game studios and have shifted their investments to the game industry.
